National Honey Bee Day Celebrated at Agri-Civic Fun Ag Day


National Honey Bee Day celebrated at the Stanly County Fun Ag Day at the Agri-Civic Center August 17th. Children of all ages enjoyed looking for the queen.


Luckily the queen had a red dot on her head so it was easier to spot her.

January Beekeeping Class

The Stanly County Beekeepers are holding a Beekeepers’ Class beginning January 28th, 2013 at the Stanly Co. Agri Civic Center, 26032-B Newt Road, Albemarle, NC 28001 at Hwy 24/27 in Albemarle, NC.

Classes will be held every Monday, from 7pm to 9pm for six weeks. Fee is $15.00 per person and includes beekeeping book as well as instructor fees.

Christmas Dinner on December 13th


The Stanly County Beekeepers Association will hold their annual Christmas Dinner at 6 PM on Thursday, December 13th, at Union Chapel United Methodist Church , 24361 US-52 South.  Each attending family is to bring a covered dish and/or a dessert.  Sylvia Smith has graciously volunteered to make the facility a beautiful Christmas venue.
Members are welcome to bring a gift to be door prize, and all members will be given tickets for door prizes.  The 50-50 raffle will be held as per usual, and will be separate from the door prizes.
Our Past President, Henry Springer, will lead us in singing some Christmas Carols after the dinner.  If any of you are willing to volunteer for piano playing, please let me know.

The SCC Campus is off of 24/27/Albemarle Rd, west side of Albemarle.  Coming from either direction on 24/27 there are signs to turn off of 24/27 and enter the main gate of SCC at the bottom of the hill.  Go up the hill and turn left at the first road toward the Peterson Building and park in the visitors’ lot.  Go in the left-hand door, up the stairs to the Dennis Community Room. (no elevator)

Visit the Stanly County Beekeepers Assocition booth at the Stanly County Fair August 22 through 25

SCBA will have a booth at the Stanly County Fair this year. Come see our booth open from 4:00 p.m. to 10:p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and from noon to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Bee on the lookout for honey booths so you can stock up on Stanly County honey.
